From small-town Wisconsin to the greater Milwaukee area, Dr. Thomas Smith, D.C., has been practicing chiropractic for over 30 years. Passionate about chiropractic and its life-changing effects, Dr. Tom is proud to serve the Hales Corners community as our chiropractor at Chiro One.

Dr. Tom first earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from University of Wisconsin-Madison and then went on to earn his doctorate of chiropractic from Logan University. During his studies, Dr. Tom was active in the sports medicine program led by Dr. Ralph Filson, holder of two World Series rings from his time as the St. Louis Cardinals team chiropractor. Dr. Tom is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), as well as a certified medical examiner through the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME).

Like many Chiro One doctors, Dr. Tom first experienced chiropractic as a patient. When he was 17 years old, he was injured during a basketball game. As he fell, he landed on his head and neck, sliding into a stone pillar. At the time, he was able to walk it off—but three days later, he collapsed. He had lost all feeling and motor control in his lower body. While the school called an ambulance, Dr. Tom and his father decided to go to a chiropractor first. His father and teammates carried him into a chiropractic clinic, where he was examined, X-rayed and adjusted. He walked out of the clinic that night and returned three times a week for four weeks. He then continued chiropractic care as a patient and began to make plans to become a chiropractor himself.

Dr. Tom’s favorite part of being a chiropractor is watching his patients’ lives change right before his eyes. He never tires of seeing each patient reach a level of health they’d never thought possible. His personal mission in practice is to continue to help as many people as he can by being the best doctor he can be. “Continuing to learn and grow, as well as being unconditional in my commitment to my team and patients is my top priority,” Dr. Tom shares.

In his free time, Dr. Tom is devoted to his two children and his faith. He enjoys biking, golfing, reading and listening to music. A long-time martial artist, Dr. Tom is getting back into his training and loving it. When he’s in need of inspiration, he often looks to the wise words of his father: “A positive mental attitude with discipline and hard work will get you everywhere,” and “The more you fail, the more success you will have.”
