Born and raised in the Midwest, Dr. Sean Dawson, D.C., loves living in the Chicagoland area and especially enjoys the city. He is thrilled to be serving the Oak Lawn community as a chiropractor of Chiro One Wellness Center of Oak Lawn.
As a child, Dr. Sean was in and out of the hospital and constantly on rounds of medication due to severe stomach pain. Finally, at age 13, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and continued to try treatment after failed treatment until he was 23 years old. When he decided to pursue a career in holistic medicine, he didn’t realize how far reaching the benefits would be—chiropractic has allowed him to live a life without pain. Since he began paying attention to his spinal health and diet, Dr. Sean no longer experiences Crohn’s related flare-ups.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from Grand Valley State University, Dr. Sean earned his master’s degree in acupuncture and doctorate in chiropractic from National University of Health Science. During his time in chiropractic school, he was an active member of the Adjusting Club, Rehab Club, as well as the ACA and ABCA associations.
Dr. Sean hopes that more people begin to seek chiropractic first, instead of as a last resort. He takes great pride in treating patients and spreading wellness education to those in his community. His favorite part of being a chiropractor is seeing each patient smile. He wants to not only motivate others but also help them to become their own source of inspiration. His personal mission in practice is to ensure each patient is getting the exact care he or she needs.
In his free time, Dr. Sean enjoys being with his family and friends. Some favorite hobbies include exercising and fitness, playing golf and finding new clean eating recipes. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a source of inspiration for Dr. Sean, and he especially loves the quote, “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” He applies this quote to any area of life—from dreams and goals to better health. He believes you just have to take that first step of action and through devotion, discipline and consistency, you’ll keep moving forward.
