As my mother was putting me to bed one night when I was four, she told me, “Son, before you go to sleep tonight make sure you count your blessings.” Great truths are often hidden within such simple words.
Those who count their blessings, those who are grateful for what they have—receive more blessings and fulfillment in life than those who do not. This is a simple principle. Yet it has the power to change your life and the life of those you come in contact with.
Gratitude is the key to wellness, growth and fulfillment. Any person who works with a state of gratitude will bring greater wellness to anyone they come in contact with.
If you had only 24 hours to live, you would probably go to the people you care about and love, and say to them, “I love you and I appreciate you. I am so grateful for everything you have contributed to my life.” When you’re down to the last moments of life, you get to prioritize your actions; and the highest priority actions are sharing love and showing gratitude.
Gratitude is a meaningful appreciation for life. Just as with wealth building you must buy assets that appreciate in value in order for your wealth to grow, so too with your body – if it’s not appreciating or growing it’s decaying (disease is simply a decay process). If we’re not appreciative, we can’t grow – appreciation is an essential component of the growth and maintenance of both the mind and body. In fact, your own body will give you symptoms (and can even create disease) to try to get you to appreciate it. It’s been repeatedly shown that love and appreciation organize and bring order to cell structures and functions on a molecular level.
There is no higher priority than gratitude. All of us are here to fulfill our inspired missions—and you have a body that is designed to help you learn your lessons of love and gratitude.
The gateway of your heart opens up when you are grateful for life. The love that is always waiting in your heart expresses itself eternally in your consciousness in the form of light. This illumination brings organization and order to human physiology.
Feel and express your gratitude for everything and everyone around you. It is a powerful idea that simultaneously serves you and the world around you.
