YOU REALLY CAN HAVE WHATEVER YOU WANT! You want to purchase the home of your dreams…name the price and location. You want to find the love of your life…they’re waiting for you. You want to become financially independent…it’s yours for the taking. You want to move up the professional ladder in your career…no one is in your way. You want to live into your passions, dreams, goals and ambitions…it’s all there for no one other than you. If you read this and have any doubt at all that this is true, know this: the only thing that is stopping you from achieving everything you’ve ever desired is you and the six inches between your ears.
Most people that read this really don’t believe that this is true. We have been conditioned to believe that our lives and the results we produce, are a product of the world around us. That causes outside of ourselves determine our fate. It’s easy to see this sad fact—just listen to people speak: “You don’t understand. If my boss…my school…my education…my parents…my resources, my circumstances (etc.) were different, THEN I would have accomplished what I set out to do. BUT, since they weren’t, that’s why I didn’t do it.”
Though it sounds like it SHOULD make sense, it doesn’t. For every missed opportunity that you have an excuse for, I’ll show you someone that didn’t accept it and did it anyway. Our world is littered with the inspirational stories of the individuals that give us hope AND offer us insight into the spiritual/universal principles that guide true accomplishment regardless the circumstances. Earl Nightingale, known as the “Dean of Personal Development” and co-founder of the Nightingale-Conant corporation, summarized it best when he released “The Strangest Secret” in 1956. This spoken word recording set a world record by becoming the first spoken word recording to achieve Gold Record status by selling over a million copies. In it he shared the strangest secret on why people become who they become when he said, “we become what we think about most of the time.”
If you’re reading this and have even the slightest inkling that what I’m sharing might be true, then know this: you can change your results by changing your thinking…period. How you think, for better or worse, can make you the person that GETS what you want.
You must understand that our minds are just like computers. What you program into it, is exactly what you’re going to get out of it. The challenge most of us face is the commonly known phrase in computer programming, GIGO or “garbage in, garbage out.” If you intentionally allow a lot of negative programming to go into your noggin’ then that’s exactly what you’re going to get out of it. It’s called stinkin’ thinkin’ and it stops us every time from taking the necessary action to us move toward our dreams and desires because of fear, doubt and worry.
The way out of this trap is to INTENTIONALLY put the knowledge into your brain that will allow you to get out of your own way and begin the journey of discovering your full potential. This journey doesn’t happen overnight but is worth any and everything it takes to embark on it. Stay tuned next week for part II and the step-by-step roadmap to discovering your full potential.
