“I’ve been under chiropractic care on and off since I was 10 years old, so naturally, I was thrilled to be involved with an organization that provides chiropractic services. I was adjusted during my first pregnancy, but I definitely wasn’t as committed to weekly adjustments as I could’ve been.
During my first pregnancy with my daughter, I experienced a horrible bout of sciatica around 7 months. It was incredibly painful to walk, sit, stand or really move at all. Between daily adjustments and the stretching suggested by my chiropractor, I was able to relieve the pain within a week!
I ended up having a c-section with my daughter and felt the effects for a long time after due to an overgrowth of scar tissue. This gradually caused an intense amount of low back and pelvic pain, which affected every area of my life. There were points in time where I couldn’t hold my toddler, bend over or get up on my own. I was devastated and felt like I was going to be trapped in this pain for the rest of my life. I also wanted to get pregnant again, but I was really afraid at what would happen to my body when I did.
I began seeing Dr. Travis, who really worked with me closely to determine the best course of care to help relieve my pain. Between his adjustments and therapy recommendations, and a specialized abdominal massage I was receiving from a massage therapist, my pain was reduced significantly.
I’m now nearly 9 months pregnant with my second child (a boy!) and have been feeling great for most of this pregnancy. As part of my pregnancy regimen, I go in for weekly adjustments (most weeks!) and am going to increase to two times a week for the remaining month. I’ve also been doing a lot of stretching, yoga, drinking apple cider vinegar and water (to reduce swelling) and performing the at-home therapies Dr. Travis prescribed.
This pregnancy has been so much easier than my first, which has been wonderful, as I’d like to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). I have no doubt that chiropractic care has helped make this pregnancy easier, and I strongly believe my care will help me reach my VBAC goal. Also, baby has been in a head down, labor-ready position since at least 32 weeks!
I’m very grateful to all the doctors who have supported me over the years. Your care and compassion is beyond compare. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
P.S. Don’t forget to see your chiropractor after you have the baby. After I had my daughter, I was experiencing a lot of discomfort in between my shoulder blades due to sitting in an awkward position while nursing. Within a couple adjustments, my pain was gone.”
