I know, I know…you’re probably thinking, “what in the world does fanassionous mean?” Well, it’s a darn good question because I made the word up. Fanassionous is a way of life; it’s a state of being; it’s a “I hate to go to bed and I can’t wait to get up” euphoria. It’s kind of like the feeling you have on Christmas eve, when you can’t wait to wake up in the morning and see what Santa has brought.
Each word can carry a lot of meaning by themselves if you apply them to your life. But together…they are POWERFUL! It is living with a fanatical passion and a purpose! Fanassionous is a combination of the following words as defined in Webster’s Dictionary:
- Fanatical: “Marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion.”
- Passion: “Intense driving or overmastering feeling or conviction; ardent affection.”
- Purpose: “An object or end to be attained: Intention, resolution, determination.”
In the bible, King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 9:10: "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might." He is widely regarded as the wealthiest and most successful man to have ever lived on the earth. Though I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, I’m smart enough to take advice from an example like him!
The challenge lies in finding something to be fanatical or passionate about. Once you’ve found it, be sure you have the commitment and drive to achieve. Purpose without the desire to achieve is usually a “wish.”
When you find something you love, that drives you to excel and has a positive impact on others, then you’ve found something you can do with all of your might. You’ve found something you can be fanassionous about!
We are fanassionous about living our vision every day, “That all human beings discover their full potential.” How about you?
