Before trying chiropractic, I’d tried steroid injections, pain pills and lying on my back to alleviate the pain. I was scared of chiropractic and terrified of being a quad. I was told by my MD that I had degenerative spine disease and that the next step was surgery, but after getting screened at a home show and coming to see Dr. Travis Russell at Chiro One of New Lenox, I feel like I have a life and a future!

My name is Linda Stahler. I walked past the Chiro One booth at a home show on a weekend getaway and because my back was hurting, my husband urged me to go for it so I stopped to check it out. I’m really glad that I did!

I’ve suffered with years of back pain and stiffness in my neck. I couldn’t turn my head in the car and I had a lot of pain when I picked up my grandkids. Over the years, I’ve tried steroid injections, pain pills and lying on my back to alleviate the pain. My MD told me that I had degenerative spine disease and that the next step was surgery. My first crisis with my neck occurred in the mid 1980’s. I lifted a heavy piece of equipment which led to paralysis in my left arm. I saw a neurologist and an accupuncturist and had to take heavy doses of steroids. After 8 months of therapy, I got back 85% of my arm and shoulder range of motion back but I was told not to lift or extend my neck.

Having a background in respiratory therapy, I was hesitant to try chiropractic at first. My memory of chiropractic was that it did nothing, but I decided to give it a try anyway. Since starting care, I have improved range of motion in my neck and I can turn my head while I’m driving. I recently had my grandkids over and I can now lift them and play with them. I started to get back pain after that but went to see Dr. Travis right away. After getting adjusted, I felt better and didn’t have to get steroid injections like I used to. Because of chiropractic, I averted disaster! My core strength has improved and I now feel like I have a life and a future. Even though I was hesitant at first, they (Chiro One of New Lenox) are now like my family. They are genuinely concerned how my day is going and about my progress.
