My name is Juvenal Calderon. When I was 8 years old, I was shot in the head by gang members. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was caught in a cross fire. I was shot between the eyes near the bridge of my nose. My family had taken me to the park and we had just spread out a blanket to eat a pizza when it happened. After the accident, I lost movement on my right side. I also had to wear a brace on my leg because it wasn’t very strong.
The accident affected my body and even after physical therapy I still had problems with my left leg and my left arm. I’m now 22 years old and I recently started to see a chiropractor (Chiro One of Old Town) to improve my balance and my posture.
Since starting care, I now have more movement on my left side and my leg is more strong. My left arm also hangs more naturally. I like to paint and since I’ve started chiropractic care, I have more balance and I’m stronger.
