Chiro One Wellness Center of Avondale. Dr. Shamika, who is West Indian, spent five years living in Panama and then moved to Olympia, Wash. Currently a Lombard resident, Dr. Shamika was drawn to chiropractic because she believes that health and wellness allow people to be their best.
Dr. Shamika attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Ark. on full academic scholarship where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology. She went on to attend chiropractic school at Logan College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in life sciences, her master’s degree in sports rehabilitation and science and her doctorate of chiropractic degree.
Sports—like basketball, tennis, softball, intramural kickball and volleyball— are Dr. Shamika’s hobbies. She also enjoys reading, traveling and cooking, especially Mexican food.
In both high school and college, Dr. Shamika volunteered as a big sister with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. She has also given back by helping high school and college athletes through Logan’s Biofreeze Center and teen mothers through Almost Home, among other charitable efforts.
